Description:
The semi-arid world of Galatea is not the most hospitable world in the sector, and yet its people have always found success. Boasting an intact Preceptor Archive, the world was well-prepared to start from scratch during the Silence. Each step they took towards the heavens was guided by a millenium of stored knowledge, freely shared. Led by a technocratic meritocracy, they reindustrialized early and were quick to implement robotic workforces to improve their standard of living. With the majority of basic labor and service tasks taken over by machines, the Galatean population turned to scholarly pursuits and, with the aid of the Preceptors, they grew from a dusty backwater to one of the only TL5 worlds in the sector.
Galatea is the seat of knowledge within the Federation, and the headquarters of the Federation's extensive network of universities, colleges, and trade schools. Galatean children are extensively assessed from birth, and subjected to a battery of exams and aptitude tests to help guide them towards ideal career paths. With over 80% of its adult population holding higher degrees, the Galateans are able to work tirelessly to advance the arts and sciences. There are even rumors that the Galatean government has established an AI forge and is attempting to create a True AI. Only the Grand Academy in Khaya could rival them as a center of learning, although few Galateans would admit that. In fact, the two worlds have feuded for decades, with the materialistic Galateans constantly wary of a second Scream and the spiritualistic Khayans declaring any kind of AI research blasphemy.
