Description:
Once considered for admission into the Federation, the Deidameans unfortunately did not share the same values as their Federation neighbors. Their culture is famously independent, with a militaristic streak that unnerved the other worlds. Fearing that Deidame would challenge their supremacy over the sector, the Federation issued them an ultimatum: Join the Federation, or be forcibly disarmed. They hoped the threat would intimidate them into submission, but they realized their mistake immediately when Federation early-warning scanners began to alert that a massive fleet had just crossed the border.
While the Deidamean forces very nearly won the war that ensued, they eventually faltered during the Siege of Andriopol. Heavily weakened by the loss of their primary fleet, they were then forced into a doomed defense of Deidame itself. The fighting was incredibly brutal, and during the siege several Andriopolitan captains allegedly targeted atmospheric processing plants and civilian zones. When they finally surrendered, the planet was decimated down to a TL3 world.
Since the war, the Federation has instituted a quarantine on the system, preventing the planet from having any external contact and prohibiting anything from leaving its atmosphere. Little has been seen or heard of Deidame since, but the world's culture lives on in a sector-wide diaspora of small communities and colonies.
